This was….gosh. I can’t even put it into words. A dream come true? Pretty much!
Meet the Wills Family. They’re who I want to be when I grow up. Except that I’m already grown up. But still, #goals. Their style is droolworthy. Their house is amazing. And they are serious DIY’ers which makes them even more impressive. And slightly intimidating, if I’m being real. I actually texted a friend before this shoot and told her I was worried I wasn’t cool enough for this job. Heh! It turns out they’re suuuuper nice, though…and I don’t even think they cared that I’m not cool. 😉
Anyhow,  I’ve been on a quest to be more real in my photography. To direct rather than pose, and even then, to direct very loosely, so I’m not trying to create moments that aren’t real and aren’t natural. You can’t fake connection….or an amazing laugh…or the faces kids make when they’re making cookies at home…but you can encourage them. 🙂 So I just kind of set up the scene and stand back and watch it unfold. With a few little tricks up my sleeve to get everyone relaxed and having a good time.
Saturday mornings. REAL Saturday mornings where I’m just a fly on the wall. This is how that looks:
