Have you ever hired a professional photographer? Yes? Then you know that nagging question that looms as you approach your session date: Did I pick the right location?
Location isn’t EVERYTHING but it’s definitely important. It becomes particularly important if you have a feeling the location you picked doesn’t suit you or what you’re really wanting to get out of your photo session.
This dad had booked a bluebonnet session with me to begin with. These are limited edition sessions and he booked fast so it would be kind of safe to assume he really wanted pictures in the bluebonnets right? But as we exchanged emails, it became obvious that he wasn’t so thrilled about the idea of him and his boys frolicking in a field of flowers. I mean….I get it. Flowers are beautiful and you might love them but it doesn’t meant they’re the right thing for your family photos. So I asked the question: Do you want to do flowers at all? Followed by letting him know that we can shoot anywhere. Not long after, we agreed the the golf course would be much better suited for them! And let me tell you – I think it was the best decision ever.
It was clear from the start that the boys loved being there and that this is a meaningful way of making memories for them…not to mention, the course was beautiful and we had the most amazing sunset that evening! And how cool is it that these boys will always have these photos to look back at?
I sincerely hope I get to do some more family golf course sessions in the future! This was a total blast.
